Ella Kate’s lifestyle newborn portraits was a breath of fresh air for me. Right now is such a weird time to have a baby. In the middle of a pandemic mothers are scared, worried, excited, anxious, happy, sad. I’ve felt a lot of these feelings myself over the past two and half months since having my own baby. Seeing Taylor and Allie with their Ella Kate made me feel so at peace. It felt like the world wasn’t about to fall apart when I was in their home. I felt at peace and calm. I felt happy to be documenting these sweet moments for them. It felt “normal” for me to be able to get back at doing what I love.
When I typically walk into a home for lifestyle newborn portraits, I scour the house looking for the best lighting. Sometimes this is really hard to do. If the house doesn’t have a lot of windows or if the windows that they have are small, I have to move furniture and be squished against a wall to get the optimal lighting I need to get the portraits. I was *so* excited to see the cutest little sunroom when I walked in! I didn’t have to look around or move anything much. All I had to do was scotch a chair over a little and I had an AMAZING space to work in!
Allie and Taylor were so welcoming to me too! I felt right at home while I worked! I enjoyed talking to them about their life and was surprised to learn Taylor knows where my alma mater, Harding University is, because of his Church of Christ background. It’s always fun to make small connections like that with people you’ve never met before. Thanks Allie and Taylor! Your hospitality and warm personalities are appreciated! I know Ella is going to grow up to be just as warm and sweet as you two!
