Have you ever met a mama that you admire from the moment you meet them? Caity has always been one of those people for me! She is tough as nails, but sweet as sugar, especially when I think about a newborn. I’ve known Caity for a few years now, and when I was pregnant with my daughter, Hazel, she shared her birth story for her first child, Elin with me.

I remember being amazed at how brave she seemed. Caity had an all natural birth at a birthing center 35 minutes away from her home. She also almost had to have her newborn in the car on the way to the birthing center because she apparently has such a high pain tolerance that the pain was not severe enough for her until it was almost too late!

Caity had Charlie at the same birthing center as she did with Elin! I was on pins and needles waiting for him to come, and so were they! I’m so thrilled that they have their boy now! Brent has been waiting for a long time and I’m so happy he finally has a little buddy and “mini me” to raise! If Charlie is anything like Brent when he grows up, he’s going to be an awesome man one day!

I had such a fun time taking Charlie’s newborn photos and was thrilled to see his little eyes for a minute! I also enjoyed my time with Elin! We had tea, she cooked me “tomato soup”, and we had a mini photo session in the back with her emmy while Caity was busy nursing Charlie throughout the day!

How adorable is his little nursery?! I thought her baby shower was adorable, but this was just so perfectly put together! I can not believe how perfectly clean their house was when I arrived either! Parents always have the nursery nice and clean so I can take shots of the room, but their WHOLE house was spotless-and that’s with a three year old! It was impressive!

After his first outfit, Elin and I had a little photo shoot while Caity nursed Charlie!

Her room was so adorable! She loves unicorns, if you can’t tell! 😉 She is a huge girly girl, with lots of spunk and drama! She reminds me a lot of my own daughter, Hazel!

Elin seems to just ADORE Charlie! You can tell that she is going to be a great big sister!

After we were done in Charlie’s nursery, he had one more nursing session before we moved on to Caity and Brent’s bedroom to take some more photos.

It was so nice talking to Caity’s mom when I wasn’t photographing Charlie! I was honored to get a few shots of her with her sweet grandkids! She is so sweet! She has been helping Caity, Brent, and Elin adjust to being a family of four! I wish that was something that my mom could have done for me when I had Hazel! I can tell that Elin really loves her Emmy, and I can totally see why! She is really great!

Bloopers

Now you can feast your eyes on some of the bloopers from this session! I swear, it is so hard to get photos of newborns! They move much faster than you think! I would have myself in the perfect position for lighting and posing, and then Charlie would move, or Elin would move! That’s just part of the job though! Good thing I take about 1298987987 shots from each pose, I’m always bound to get at least one good one! 🙂

Special shout out to Caity for being a human pillow so we could get Charlie’s head just right for one of my shots and for constantly shhhing so we could get Charlie nice and content for sleeping photos! Also, it was super hot in the house to keep Charlie comfortable and happy for photos, and they all suffered through like champs! The end result was worth it, guys! 🙂
